Smiles Studio -- R&D for Social Impact
The purpose of Smiles Studio, LLC, reflects Mike's life-long dedication to continuous learning and real-world testing of team-learning, community engagement, playful cameras, and social impact advising.
GUIDELEADERS
Please visit Guideleaders.com to learn more about joining a cohort to complete MIT-Professional Education's Online Course: "Applied Agentic AI for Organizational Transformation" which begins January 24.
THE POWER OF COACHES and CHATGPT
To foster and refine his creativity, Mike began engaging Alyssa Dassa, DBA, PCC, a life-coach based in Maine, in forming Guideleaders.com as an academic-coach marketplace serving local cohorts to succeed at remote on-line coursework especially offered by elite universities like Harvard, Stamford, MIT, Cornell and others. In 2026, we launched Guideleaders as a learning hub for our first cohort in Vermont.
More recently, Mike engaged Sarah Benedikt, a global logistics expert based in Mexico to consolidate his design experiments and patent pending Telebox invention via Smiles Studio website. Here, one can find links to specific projects, events, and platforms like Guideleaders to participate in activities undergoing hypothesis testing for business and social impact development.
Much of what you see here reflects input from these experts as well as seniors from the Champlain College Stiller School of Business who participated in special events, led logo designs, website wireframes, and marketing research invaluable to our collective work.
THE TELEBOX (PATENT PENDING)
Mike's arts-forward, hand crafted mobile video kits provide a patent-pending camera body designed to empower people to tell their stories using their own smartphones.
Our most recent, "lunch box" model, provides a magnet, modular system (think Mr. Potato Head meets IPhone!). A retro-looking playful "television studio camera" on the outside, it includes high-tech smartphone accessories (mic and LED light) used by professionals with the -- wait for it -- high fidelity speaker system you will find on no other camera anywhere!
Everyone with a smartphone has an incredible camera, but lack the professional audio, lighting, and hard-drives they need to capture and share special event impact through their own social media channels. We engage and inspire event attendees to have fun and create short interviews that matter.

CURRENT WORK
Working within the Vermont Small Business Development ecosystem, we have completed the Black River Innovation Campus (BRIC) 2025 Actuator Program, and continue our work with Champlain College Capstone Interns. The project builds on a process of human-centered design with a focus on serving special events that benefit non-profits and charitable organizations.
